Where the data comes from
Everything on Collecte MTL comes from three open datasets. We publish nothing of our own: each one is downloaded as-is, kept as a dated snapshot, and re-read on every request.

The island split into collection sectors, one set per waste stream, each carrying the City’s notice describing that sector’s schedule. This is what answers “when do I put my bin out?”.

Where the écocentres and drop-off points are, province-wide; we keep only the ones on the island. Their hours, accepted materials and access rules come from montreal.ca.
The borough figures below are modelled annual estimates, and the method used to calculate recovery rates has shifted over the years — so read year-over-year changes as directional, not exact. Boroughs also differ in density and housing, so this is context, not a ranking.
The collection schedules are best-effort readings of the City’s own notices, refreshed about once a month; they are not a live feed, and by-law 16-049 remains the legal source of truth.
